LAZY
Posted by His.Holiness on 18 February, 2006Yah – so I haven’t posted anything since January. Do you have a point? I have been, uh… Lazy. That’s right, lazy. And if you don’t like it – well – I guess you will have to find a way to deal with that. All sarcasm aside, I have been quite amazed recently with the number of people who honestly think that some one else is responsible for their own inappropriate emotional, and over-reactionary response to things. But I digress.
So part of the reason I haven’t been posting very much recently, besides my naturally slothful nature, is that I have been noticing that I have been posting way too much political garbage. Don’t get me wrong, I think the political commentary is important, to a point – but this is a personal blog – not a political one – and well… I tend to think it should be more – I don’t know – personal than political.
With that in mind, I have been doing some work on starting a new blog that is mostly commentary – commentary on my own area of expertise – the church. It has come to my attention that I have a pretty unique view of the church, and that difference in view point is a source of a lot of my frustration with the church. I am not talking about anything theologically, significantly different – in fact mostly core Lutheran convictions - but I am thinking of something that is functionally, so different that it is not on the radar of most (but certainly not all) church leaders. Anyway; about all I have done now is purchased a domain and set up a fresh install of WP 2.1… Once I monkey with the theme a bit and get a little bit of an outline and framework in place I will post a link.
Let me tell you – there is nothing like looking through a few hundred WP themes to make a person appreciate their own. I remember now why I picked this one last time – I am not completely happy with it – and there are some things I would like to figure out how to change, but it is much better than most other themes I have seen recently. Unfortunately for me – teaching myself enough PHP to put my own theme together is not something I expect to be doing any time soon – so I will live with what I can make this one do – just by monkeying with the CSS and the little bit of PHP I can do without breaking stuff - which is a fair amount; almost enough even.
I had an interesting experience on technorati today; I found a blog where a guy has listened to, and reviewed my recording of “A Connecticut Yankee,†as well as his general impression of the other recordings at LibriVox. For the record – I agree with about 99% of what he says – including the parts about multiple readers (part of the LibriVox “ideaâ€) being distracting to listen to, and about my butchering of French names. All around, not a bad review – especially for a first recording experience.
